I Am 40 Reasons to Trust God

I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God by by Diane Stortz (Author) and Diane Le Feyer (Illustrator)

Target Reader:

I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God is a another one of my favorite bible storybooks. It is FOR SURE for children of ALL ages. We read it to our toddler and preschooler. This book is even more perfect for early and young readers as well! I actually have thought that I want to gift this bible to my grandma who is in her 80’s. Her walk with the Lord got serious in only the last 5 years, and her understanding isn’t what it used to be. I feel like this book would even be great for her. This is a great bible even for a non-christian household. It doesn’t cut corners in the details of the stories and can sneak in as a “bedtime story book” and the family would be getting 100% right on Gospel!

There are 19 Old Testament stories and 21 New Testament stories in I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God. Each story is tied to a name of God!

Our Thoughts on this book:

I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God is Awesome! I keep trying to get my kids to pick this one at bedtime… but we’re getting to the point where they have too many good choices. With reading this book to a 2 year old and a 4 year old, I find this book meets both of them right where they are at!

I think that starting off with the name of God is a great starting point for our kids understanding the character of God. We always have the kids repeat the name and the verse that follows it. The illustration are great at keeping our 2 year old’s attention. We do get a lot of “what’s that?” and the story always give her exactly what she needs to stop asking the question over and over… so that makes me think she is getting it!

There is a banner statement, or we call it the “takeaway statement” with each story. We make it our aim to try to get our littler one to repeat it, and understand this statement.

And I’m always in love with the bookmark ribbons! This eliminates bed time drama fighting over which story we are on. I always also love that it tells you where you can find this story in the bible. This is great if you have older children (or even adults) following along too, they can next go and read it in their bibles for further understanding.

The  I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God bible also has a “What does it mean?” section with each story. We usually skip this section with our little children, but every now and again they are really engaged and we do include it. It the application that makes the story relatable and God that much more real. My 4 year old definitely understands this section and loves it, but my 2 year old is usually running in circles.

We do skip the “learn more” and “What happens next?” sections because our kids are so young. These additional “devotional” sections is what makes this book truly great for all ages. It’s an invitation to go deeper! It helps link the story and God’s name and character to the bigger picture of the bible. We do always conclude the story each time with the included prayer.

Overall, you just need to buy this book! Buy like 5, that way you have one as birthdays approach and your shopping is already done. Every family needs this storybook bible!
